Our Story

Morgan Dawkins grew up in rural southern Mississippi.

Farming was a childhood dream. He grew up around agriculture, and it made Morgan curious about all things involved with growing your own food and being self sustaining, especially when it comes to animals. Ever since middle school, he wanted to be a vet.

He met his wife Jennifer while studying biology and chemistry at the "hippie dippie" Warren Wilson College.

For those who may not know, Warren Wilson College is an innovative, inclusive, and experiential school. They have a farm to feed the students, and each student lends a hand. In fact, students basically run the school and do all the work.

Morgan worked in the kitchen and on the farm, raising and cooking food for the school. He helped raise cattle and pigs. The farm manager had a border collie to help manage livestock. Morgan was fascinated and kinda fell in love (did you know that Morgan breeds border collies now?).

Then, Morgan and Jennifer went to the University of Tennessee together to become vets.

They worked and lived on a cattle farm the whole time. They had an Australian cattle dog and eventually got a border collie, too. Then, they needed sheep for the border collies (when well trained, this is the most humane way to move cattle and sheep).

Eventually, they moved to Pennsylvania and opened a small animal practice.

But their dream was to have a farm. So, in the end 2020, they bought 250 acres in southern NJ!

They converted the property into a farm, where they are raising livestock with their youngest child, Trevor. That dream has come to a reality, starting with eggs and honey (ok, not livestock yet, but they're getting there).

And, there are more big dreams to realize! The ultimate vision is to build a farm-to-table business with everything raised and processed in house... and that includes in house butchering!

Will you join us on this exciting journey? It's all about providing you with the best, farm-direct food we can.
